Come and imagine a new LGBTQ+ future through large-scale wall paintings. Together we’ll explore our visions and dreams and play around with big drawing and painting techniques. This workshop is open to all LGBTQ+ people aged 12-20. No previous experience required.
✨Everything you need to know✨
To open the festival, we are giving young LGBTQ+ people the chance to imagine a new future together. Vibing off the saying “you can’t be what you can’t see”, this workshop takes the first step in realising a better LGBTQ+ future. Together with workshop hosts Inga and Sam, participants will get to explore a range of methods for exploring and expressing their dreams and visions.
No experience necessary! Just a willingness to shake it loose and an openness to think together.
To really get our creative juices flowing we need to break free from our preconceived ideas of what drawings should look like. That’s why we’ll be using tools like four arms, one pen and drastic elastic drawing alongside collective drawing techniques to get out of the box – and have a little fun whilst we’re at it!
We want our demands for a better future to take up space. That’s why we’ll be working directly on the walls of the gallery and on large boards that will be displayed throughout the week. By doing what we want with the gallery together, we claim it as our space. Throughout the week the gallery will be transformed more and more by following activities and workshops, but Rebel Drawing’s scale means it’ll set the tone for the whole festival.
❤ Lunch will be provided ❤
Rebel drawing was designed by Status Queer in response to our international network of LGBTQ+ creatives and community builders, The Queer Agenda. The network met throughout 2021 to exchange experiences from our different Nordic and Baltic contexts and explore how we as cultural organisers can activate and cultivate human connection.
